Great quality for a low price.

I purchased my H.View IP POE camera as wanted to start doing CCTV at home on my Synology NAS. I had no idea how good H.View were, so took a chance. The quality of the camera (casing wise) is very sturdy and nice and small. It was easy to affix to the outside of my house. The quality of the picture it produces, the colour balance and the night vision is far better than I had expected. Very impressed.
There were a few down-sides though which I was not happy with. The RJ45 connector came with a waterproof housing, but the power plug did not.I am using POE, so did not want the 12v socket, so have to cover it in sticky tape to try and keep it water proof. It would have been nice to have some sort of case or plug I could have put in it to keep it safe. There is a reset button which I have no idea what it is for as wasn't mentioned in the manual. So now I have a power lead and reset lead that aren't being used just dangling again't a wall. This didn't look good, so had to use again more sticky take to tape the three wires together.
The camera also came with a static IP. This meant I had to force my laptop to have a static IP in the same range as the camera (which is very annoying) to tell the camera to use DHCP since I have never heard of a computer network not having a DHCP server. The biggest issue was that the camera would not let me change it from a static IP to use DHCP as each time I tried the page said their was an issue and it couldn't save the change. I tried the 4 leading internet browsers and none of them would work. In the end I had to download the H.View camera software, connect to it and then and only then could I change it to DHCP. Once rebooted it received an IP from my network and I was able to add it to my NAS.

So, I love the camera and will be buying 2 more soon. I was not happy that it took me several hours of stress to get it to use DHCP as it's own built-in website refused me to change it. I was close to sending it back as it just wouldn't work.

If H.View could make it have a dynamic IP by default as all you need to do it give the customer the MAC address and they can look for it on their server/home router and fin it's allocated IP very easily. They would then have a perfect camera.
